With regard to the disease diabetes, hurt can be caused to blood vessels and nerves inside the feet, then circulation possibly will be impaired and infections can form on diabetic feet even sometimes without the person realizing it.

This an ultimately cause major complications and even amputation. Diabetes also impairs the immune system so diabetics are more prone to infection. Those who suffer from infection must have regular foot examinations by their physician and should know whether or not they have nerve pain.

To prevent and check whether there is injury to the feet you must get into a routine of checking and caring for your feet. This is especially essential if you already have nerve or blood vessel harm or current foot problems.

Here are twenty main accepted tips for keeping your feet well:

1. Inspect your feet thoroughly each day.

2. Clean your feet daily in lukewarm water (test this with your hands) with a natural soap, dry them thoroughly to prevent fungal disease.

3. Protect your feet constantly by wearing well fitting, comfortable but sturdy shoes.

4. Never walk around without footwear to protect your feet.

5. Clean, dry cotton or wool socks are also a terrific way to protect your feet from stress points and bacteria caused by sweat.

6. Regularly use a little amount of a normal foot cream that contains antibacterial agents to the soles of your feet following bathing, avoiding the skin between the toes. Diabetics can discover that the skin on their feet dries and cracks easily which can potentially leave them open to illness.

7. When cutting toenails always soak the feet in a good foot soak that has antibacterial properties inside it to soften the nails and cleanse away a few bacteria and grime from the nails. Remember to cut the nail straight across using a nail clipper, as curved nails are more likely to become ingrown.

8. Use a gentle natural foot scrub to smooth several small rough areas before they become a problem.

9. Use promotes blood flow so walk daily and don’t sit in one spot for too long. An easy practice is to make circle using your feet ten times in every direction, keeping your leg still.

10. Sitting using your feet elevated for 10 minutes will also improve your flow.

11. Regularly massage your feet, this will also stimulate the circulation.

12. If you do notice a sore or any sign of infection, see your general practitioner for treatment.

13. Stop smoking. It’s bad for the circulation and your health generally.

14. Have any bunions and corns removed by a professional to avoid disease.

15. Commonly clean the shower using your usual cleaner and spray a little diluted tea tree oil around the drain.

16. To keep your feet warm in bed wear loose, comfortable cotton or wool socks.

17. Still make sure your feet are kept at a comfortable temperature, avoiding cold feet.

18. If you have any pain in your feet see a podiatrist or your general practitioner immediately.

19. Use foot powder.

20. Follow a good diet and lifestyle; this will help to avert harm and complications.

If you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, then you know how overwhelming the news can be. You will feel frustrated and you will also feel as if you have completely lost control of your life. This is a natural reaction from people being diagnosed with diabetes.

>> ELEOTIN : Natural Cures for Diabetes and Obesity Click here

Living with diabetes is hard. Because this disease has no cure available yet, you can effectively manage it in order for you to live a more normal and full life. The key to treating diabetes is by effectively managing the blood sugar level. Also, you have to follow certain tips in order for you to make your life as a diabetic easier.

The first thing that you need to do in order to manage diabetes is by being knowledgeable about the disease. You can’t fight what you don’t know. So, by knowing the disease, you will be able to know how you can manage it and treat it.

You also need to eat regularly. You have to have three meals a day and also a snack after each meal. This will help regulate your blood sugar level and prevent you from experiencing hypoglycemia or low blood sugar level. Skipping meals can lead to unpleasant symptoms associated with hypoglycemia where the worst thing that can happen to you is going on a diabetic coma.

If you go somewhere, always carry something sweet with you. By this you will be able to correct your low blood sugar levels. An example of snacks would be fruit juice, raisins, soda, and hard sweets. These foods will be able to correct low blood sugar but all these things should be taken in small amounts.

You know that you are a diabetic but do other people know this? If you go somewhere where no one knows that you are diabetic, you should have something to tell them that you are in case you get involved in an accident or you experience going on a diabetic coma. Wear a medic alert bracelet that states that you are diabetic. This will inform people and medical professionals about your condition, which can potentially save your life.

> Is There A Way To Reverse Diabetes Naturally? Click Here To Find Out

Regularly visiting your physician is also recommended. By doing so, your doctor will be able to regularly monitor your condition and help you manage diabetes. Always keep in mind that you shouldn t take any chances when it comes to your health.

Exercise is also very important if you are diabetic. You need to do regular but fairly moderate exercise. Try walking for 30 minutes every day. This will help regulate your blood sugar levels and also keep your heart healthy. In addition to this, you need to choose an exercise that is not hard on your feet. Getting cuts, blisters and foot infection can trouble you more. Go for gentle walking, swimming, or cycling. The last thing you want as a diabetic is getting your feet injured. Doing this can make you a perfect candidate for amputation.

Lastly, know the symptoms of blood sugar fluctuations. Watch out for excessive thirst, extreme hunger, sudden weight loss, frequent urination, moodiness, and nausea, gum and bladder infections. Blurred vision and itching and tingling sensations on the hands and feet are also signs that you should watch out for.

These are some of the handy hints that you should remember if you or someone you know is diabetic. By following these tips, you can be sure that managing diabetes will be easy.

Diabetes foot pain can be excruciating at times

It needs to be remedied as soon as possible before any serious complications develop

      >> For more information on diabetic foot pain treatment, click here

In diabetes one of the main causes of ulceration in the diabetic foot is poor tissue oxygenation, which is caused by blocking of the large or small vessels. This can lead to very slow wound healing and make infection more likely, which can in severe cases lead to gangrene in the foot. Obviously early intervention in these cases is a priority as loss of limb can be a main cause of early morbidity. Where the circulation is severely compromised it is very difficult for the infection to clear.

Foot ulcers affect 1 in 10 of Diabetes sufferers

Common Causes of Foot ulceration

Extrinsic pressure from tight shoes.

Prolonged heel pressure.

Intrinsic pressures from chemical mediators of infection within the body.

Walking in bear feet and treading on a pin or sharp object which may not be felt due to loss of sensation.

Foot type- high arch or flat feet etc.

Calluses, Blisters and athletes foot

Important steps to avoid foot ulcers

It is important that if you have poor circulation that your feet are checked on a regular basis by either a Podiatrist or other medically trained professional. The lower limb foot pulses will be checked, with the skin and nails for any signs of poor foot circulation.

Proper accommodative footwear must be worn to avoid any shearing forces, which causes blistering of the skin. Check your feet daily for any changes in skin colour, blisters and calluses etc. All these could lead to ulceration and possibly gangrene, with loss of limb.

Use orthoses to correct any problems with your gait or excessive foot pressures.

Paddings or strappings for excessive foot pressure and shearing forces which can lead to ulceration.

Heel pads.

Use Foot cream daily to avoid dry and cracked skin, which can be a common source of foot infection.

Dry your feet thoroughly.

Control your Diabetes with regular exercise, healthy eating and an aggressive treatment regime to control the blood sugars. Avoid smoking. Check your shoes for any signs of wear and inside for foreign objects such as sharp edges.

Loss of sensation – Diabetic Neuropathy

Loss of sensation can develop in the feet over time. This condition is known as Diabetic neuropathy which manifests itself as peripheral neuropathy and usually affects the sensory nerves in the legs. Again it is important to have a regular test for this condition by a podiatrist or other medically trained professional.

Why it is vital to check for loss of sensation

If the nervous system becomes damaged it is possible for the feet to go numb. This can become painful in the early stages with a condition sometimes developing known as painful neuropathy. It is possible that your skin may be damaged through trauma or infection, even callus formation or standing on a pin and you could be totally unaware of the seriousness of the situation. As a foot ulcer could easily develop and you may be unaware due to the loss of sensation. Neuropathy can cause the heels to crack and the skin to dry out. Pressure from daily walking may go unnoticed. Your Podiatrist will grade your feet from low risk to high risk, if you are more at risk of ulceration.

To recap it is important that you have a regular foot health check 6 monthly to yearly and check your feet and inside your shoes daily to avoid any potential problems.

Most people are not mindful of their nails specially toenails, standing for long hours at work and wearing tight shoes can be stressful to feet, this can lead to damaging the nail’s structure.

Nail trauma or injuries, medical conditions and occupation are just a few of the circumstances that can put a person at risk with nail fungus infection. To prevent this from happening to you, know the facts on what will put you at risk with the infection.

Due to certain conditions infection is inevitable, but there are a variety of toenail fungus remedies to select from to suit your needs such as prescription medications, home and natural treatments.

>> ZetaClear antifungal solution for toenail fungus

The following are the risk factors to look out for:

Nail fungus risk factors

Age, sex and family history of fungal infection

Poor circulation is a fact of life as a person ages because the valves that help in circulating the blood to and from the lower extremities do not function as they used to. Circulatory problems are inevitable at old age and the result is lower extremities from ailments like nail fungus due to the fact certain nutrients, antibodies and oxygen do not reach these areas.

Tight shoes often disrupt the circulation of blood on feet, damaging structure, increasing porosity of nails making them susceptible to the infection, example are high heeled shoes that women often wear, but men are genetically predisposed also. Family history of nail fungal infection is also considered as a risk factor.

Medical state

Health conditions such as diabetes, transplant, weak circulation and immune system such as with HIV and leukemia patients place a person at risk of toenail fungus.

Diabetics suffer from reduced feeling in their legs and feet as a result of the disease attacking the nervous system, and nails deteriorate.

A marker for HIV infection, proximal subungual is the nail fungal infection that invades through the proximal fold. Treating the infection with prescription toenail fungus remedies is not advisable because of the side effects these drugs contain that can worsen any existing health problems.

Work related hazard

Jobs that keep you on your feet for long hours, dancing or sports can upset the normal circulation to and from the lower extremities. Feet and toenails can suffer from this resulting in porosity of nails or even nail damage. Nails that are constantly soaked in water, for example pool cleaners, can suffer from nail fungus. Using soaks like vinegar, hydrogen peroxide or other corrosive substances as toenail fungus remedies may further damage specially the growing nails.

Almond, rosehip and vitamin e oils from natural toenail fungus remedies help protect and preserve the healthy growing nail.
