Diabetes is a disorder that is regularly referred to as a silent killer, as sufferers do not often show any signs and symptoms correlated to the disease. Yet, the condition continues to become severe inside.

There is no recognized cure for diabetes just yet. Diabetics are simply advised to watch their diet and maintain an optimum weight so that they can manage their illness better. Here are good diet suggestions so diabetics can stay healthy despite their situation:

1. A daily dose of fruits and vegetables is basic

Fruits and vegetables play an important role in a diabetic’s diet. As much as possible, they must eat fruits or green leafy vegetables for snacks or along with the most important meal of the day. Stir-fried or raw vegetables are perfect. These foods are rich in vitamins and nutrients necessary in fighting off bad cholesterol.

2. Starches must be consumed for energy

A diabetic’s diet ought to include enough starch to provide enough energy to sustain his daily activities. Bread and cereal are fine sources of starch. It is best consumed during breakfast to fuel up the required energy throughout the day.

3. Avoid sweets and sugary foods

If you can’t help eating sugared foods, at least do so in moderation. Restrict yourself to intake sugary food once in a week. You have to decrease sugar intake because being diabetic, your body can’t break down the sugar, as it should.

4. Include soluble fibers in your diet

Studies have shown that soluble fibers slow down the absorption of glucose in the intestines. Legumes, kidney beans, and carrots are fine choices of food that are high in soluble fibers.

These suggestions hopefully will help as far as diet is concerned. However, diabetics should make it a point to visit their general practitioner on a regular basis so that their health is monitored accurately.

1. Almond: Following its oil being extracted, Almond is considered beneficial in the healing of diabetes. It does not contain any starch.

2. Banana: Bananas are believed to be useful in controlling diabetes. According to the Journal of American Medical Association, Banana and Skimmed milk provide an easy and helpful method for weight decrease in treating diabetic patients . Unripe bananas, cooked as a vegetable, are considered especially good for this illness.

3. Buttermilk: The use of buttermilk has been found beneficial for the treatment of diabetes. Lactic Acid contained inside it stimulates the secretion of the pancreas and thereby helps control blood sugar levels.

4. Flour: Certain whole grain cereals also help to lower blood sugar in diabetics. A mixture of certain flours made from cereals, grains, legumes, and pulses are especially beneficial. One such mixture can be prepared by combining the flour of soyabean, black gram, jowar, bajra, Bengal gram, wheat bran and barley. This mixed flour can be used for preparing chapattis.

5. Legumes: Lentils and other legumes are considered good for diabetes. According to the American journal of Clinical Nutrition, they are specially successful in the diet of diabetes patients because of their slow release of energy.

6. Sour Fruits: Certain tart or sour fruits have proved to be valuable in stimulating the pancreas and increase the production of insulin. These fruits include sour apple and sour citrus fruits, which can invigorate the pancreas.

7. Teas: Certain types of teas are considered beneficial for the cure of diabetes. Tea prepared from parsley has been found to lower blood sugar. Certain communities use tea made from tender leaves of walnut for controlling diabetes.

8. Tomato: Tomato with its low carbohydrates content is a wonderful food for diabetic patients and for those who want to reduce their body weight. It is said to be very effective in controlling the percentage of sugar in the urine of diabetic patients.

With regard to the disease diabetes, hurt can be caused to blood vessels and nerves inside the feet, then circulation possibly will be impaired and infections can form on diabetic feet even sometimes without the person realizing it.

This an ultimately cause major complications and even amputation. Diabetes also impairs the immune system so diabetics are more prone to infection. Those who suffer from infection must have regular foot examinations by their physician and should know whether or not they have nerve pain.

To prevent and check whether there is injury to the feet you must get into a routine of checking and caring for your feet. This is especially essential if you already have nerve or blood vessel harm or current foot problems.

Here are twenty main accepted tips for keeping your feet well:

1. Inspect your feet thoroughly each day.

2. Clean your feet daily in lukewarm water (test this with your hands) with a natural soap, dry them thoroughly to prevent fungal disease.

3. Protect your feet constantly by wearing well fitting, comfortable but sturdy shoes.

4. Never walk around without footwear to protect your feet.

5. Clean, dry cotton or wool socks are also a terrific way to protect your feet from stress points and bacteria caused by sweat.

6. Regularly use a little amount of a normal foot cream that contains antibacterial agents to the soles of your feet following bathing, avoiding the skin between the toes. Diabetics can discover that the skin on their feet dries and cracks easily which can potentially leave them open to illness.

7. When cutting toenails always soak the feet in a good foot soak that has antibacterial properties inside it to soften the nails and cleanse away a few bacteria and grime from the nails. Remember to cut the nail straight across using a nail clipper, as curved nails are more likely to become ingrown.

8. Use a gentle natural foot scrub to smooth several small rough areas before they become a problem.

9. Use promotes blood flow so walk daily and don’t sit in one spot for too long. An easy practice is to make circle using your feet ten times in every direction, keeping your leg still.

10. Sitting using your feet elevated for 10 minutes will also improve your flow.

11. Regularly massage your feet, this will also stimulate the circulation.

12. If you do notice a sore or any sign of infection, see your general practitioner for treatment.

13. Stop smoking. It’s bad for the circulation and your health generally.

14. Have any bunions and corns removed by a professional to avoid disease.

15. Commonly clean the shower using your usual cleaner and spray a little diluted tea tree oil around the drain.

16. To keep your feet warm in bed wear loose, comfortable cotton or wool socks.

17. Still make sure your feet are kept at a comfortable temperature, avoiding cold feet.

18. If you have any pain in your feet see a podiatrist or your general practitioner immediately.

19. Use foot powder.

20. Follow a good diet and lifestyle; this will help to avert harm and complications.

Diabetes Mellitus, or as it is commonly referred to “diabetes” is a severe and widespread condition that is extremely common in the western world. This condition is considered to be a growing epidemic in the developed world and is currently one of the greatest strains on the world’s healthcare. Diabetes is one of the great health crises of the 21st century. Medical Diabetic Supplies can help.

While those afflicated with diabetes can have varying degrees of it, from mild to the most severe, diabetes itself is related to regulation of insulin. Ingesting sugars causes a rise in insulin that in a normally functioning body is processed without complication. With diabetes, insulin response is impaired.

While all forms of diabetes are treatable, there is no singular cure or permanent solution to the condition. Since insulin became available for medical use in 1921, the condition is largely manageable and can be contained via a regiment of blood sugar testing and insulin therapy. This form of lifestyle management can allow diabetic patients to lead relatively normal lives.

This disease should not be treated lightly. Bodily complications can arise even in those who eat appropriate, test carefully, and administer their insulin as needed. Hypoglycemia is a mild body reaction, however, this can progress to coma. Occasionally there are individuals who experience tissue loss and even death from diabetes. The majority of the time these possibles are only evident in the most severe cases of diabetes mellitus.

There are opinions in the medical field that involve a pancreatic transplant as a form of cure for some diabetes. It’s believed that replacing the organ that produces insulin, the pancreas, with reestablish the patient’s ability to produce and manage insulin. This “cure”, which remains theoretical, would only resolve certain types and cases of diabetes. To date, a transplant is not easily accessible or practical and is greatly impossible for most diabetic patients.

Diabetes as a condition is inherently genetic. While type 1 diabetes is usually a hereditary trait that is set off by a viral infection or environmental factor, type 2 diabetes is almost entirely inherited through genetics. Regardless of what type of diabetes is present, they both share common genetic backgrounds.

Screening for diabetes is usually highly effective and conclusive and is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The earlier a person discovers that they have diabetes the faster they can get it under control before the condition escalates and has serious complications for the patient. For this reason, it’s important to undergo diabetes testing. You should seek Diabetics.

While there are certainly deadlier diseases and conditions in the world of medicine, there are few with the impact of diabetes. Diabetes affects everyone, young child to senior citizen, and the societal implications are reaching every level. Key to living with diabetes is Medical Diabetic Supply.

Diabetes has many symptoms and signs that you can watch out for in order to manage it

Before a person finds out they have diabetes they will start to show certain symptoms of the illness. One of these signs that will appear is a rash that will either be a darkening of the skin or even a raised area. An astute doctor may point this out to a patient as a precursor of diabetes. This rash can be a way to find out about diabetes before it has a chance to develop and stop it. However, a diabetic rash can appear after the disease has set in as well.

There are a variety of rashes caused by diabetes with different symptoms that can occur. Some rashes may be itchy and red like those of an allergic reaction. Others will simply darken the skin in small spots on the body. There is also a rash type that will cause raised bumps on the skin that have the possibility of being itchy.

However a rash that indicates the presence of diabetes can also be non-itchy too

No matter what type of rash a person has, if it’s due to diabetes there is one sure way to treat it.

Maintaining a proper diet that keeps sugar levels at an appropriate level when a person has diabetes will help prevent and remove rashes.

>> ELEOTIN : Natural Cures for Diabetes and Obesity Click here

Typical rash ointments and creams will also work for most types of rashes. Of course in some cases the diabetic rash may be caused by the insulin injection. If a person notices a rash in the area they receive their shot occurring soon after the shot is administered they should consult their physician immediately. Rashes should always be brought up with a doctor during appointments in case they could be caused by something other than the diabetes.

A doctor will always advise a person that has recently been diagnosed with diabetes to keep a careful eye on the condition of their feet.

Diabetic/sensitive foot needs and socks!

They often do this because the condition of the feet is the most noticeable indication that diabetes complications are setting in and it gives the person a straight forward way to get more involved with their diabetes treatment and care.

This article will describe why the feet are important in understanding diabetes and various conditions, like numbness, that may affect the feet as a consequence of diabetes.

The role of insulin

Diabetes is a disease that affects the pancreas. It causes the beta cells of the islet cells in the pancreas to be destroyed or malfunction. The primary responsibility of these cells is to produce insulin which is used to regulate the glucose level in the bloodstream. Without insulin the body cannot regulate the glucose and this poses serious consequences to the health if untreated. Commonly, insulin is injected to take over this process and the person has to manually manage the role of blood sugar regulation that most people take for granted.

Blood Sugar Levels

It is believed that consistently high levels of sugar in the blood lead to a number of complications. In the case of feet, the first complication is that the circulation of blood is impeded. It is thought that high sugar levels in the blood affect the lining of blood vessels making them rough. This allows fatty deposits to stick to the lining and leads to arteriosclerosis. It is harder to push blood round the body and it is generally the outermost parts of the body that suffer the most.

This means the feet are liable to pick up cuts and bruises and take longer to heal from these problems.

Over time, continued poor circulation begins to affect the capillaries or small blood vessels that are responsible for providing blood to the nervous system and extremities of the body. Eventually the poor blood supply will cause the nervous system to malfunction. This is another complication of diabetes and is called diabetic neuropathy.

Neuropathy complications

Diabetic neuropathy is broken down into 4 types, the one that concerns feet is called peripheral neuropathy. The person with peripheral neuropathy will lose sensation in their feet. This might take the form of pin and needles or a numbness. Having poor sensitivity in the feet that are already liable to infections, cuts and bruise makes the feet especially vulnerable.

Regular Checks

Thus doctors advise on special care for feet and careful monitoring of their condition. If feet become numb for any time it is recommended to see your doctor. People with diabetes also get their feet checked annually or bi-annually where the doctor will check the sensitivity in their feet. This can also determine if neuropathy in the feet is worsening by comparison to the previous year and thus give an overall indication on how diabetes is affecting the body.

If you have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, then you know how overwhelming the news can be. You will feel frustrated and you will also feel as if you have completely lost control of your life. This is a natural reaction from people being diagnosed with diabetes.

>> ELEOTIN : Natural Cures for Diabetes and Obesity Click here

Living with diabetes is hard. Because this disease has no cure available yet, you can effectively manage it in order for you to live a more normal and full life. The key to treating diabetes is by effectively managing the blood sugar level. Also, you have to follow certain tips in order for you to make your life as a diabetic easier.

The first thing that you need to do in order to manage diabetes is by being knowledgeable about the disease. You can’t fight what you don’t know. So, by knowing the disease, you will be able to know how you can manage it and treat it.

You also need to eat regularly. You have to have three meals a day and also a snack after each meal. This will help regulate your blood sugar level and prevent you from experiencing hypoglycemia or low blood sugar level. Skipping meals can lead to unpleasant symptoms associated with hypoglycemia where the worst thing that can happen to you is going on a diabetic coma.

If you go somewhere, always carry something sweet with you. By this you will be able to correct your low blood sugar levels. An example of snacks would be fruit juice, raisins, soda, and hard sweets. These foods will be able to correct low blood sugar but all these things should be taken in small amounts.

You know that you are a diabetic but do other people know this? If you go somewhere where no one knows that you are diabetic, you should have something to tell them that you are in case you get involved in an accident or you experience going on a diabetic coma. Wear a medic alert bracelet that states that you are diabetic. This will inform people and medical professionals about your condition, which can potentially save your life.

> Is There A Way To Reverse Diabetes Naturally? Click Here To Find Out

Regularly visiting your physician is also recommended. By doing so, your doctor will be able to regularly monitor your condition and help you manage diabetes. Always keep in mind that you shouldn t take any chances when it comes to your health.

Exercise is also very important if you are diabetic. You need to do regular but fairly moderate exercise. Try walking for 30 minutes every day. This will help regulate your blood sugar levels and also keep your heart healthy. In addition to this, you need to choose an exercise that is not hard on your feet. Getting cuts, blisters and foot infection can trouble you more. Go for gentle walking, swimming, or cycling. The last thing you want as a diabetic is getting your feet injured. Doing this can make you a perfect candidate for amputation.

Lastly, know the symptoms of blood sugar fluctuations. Watch out for excessive thirst, extreme hunger, sudden weight loss, frequent urination, moodiness, and nausea, gum and bladder infections. Blurred vision and itching and tingling sensations on the hands and feet are also signs that you should watch out for.

These are some of the handy hints that you should remember if you or someone you know is diabetic. By following these tips, you can be sure that managing diabetes will be easy.

Performing regular exercise is highly recommended in combination with weight loss and eating a moderate and well-balanced diet although there is no getting away from the fact that diabetes medication is most effective in controlling the different types of diabetes and it can be taken orally or injected.

>> Good nutrition Optimum Nutrients for diabetics Click here

Reduce Blood Sugar Levels

It is usual for a diabetes sufferer to have very high blood sugar levels that persist over a period of time, and which warrants taking diabetes medication to help keep the disease in check and prevent it from worsening. When insulin is not available in proper quantities, and when a person suffers type 1 diabetes, then the best course of action is taking medication in the form of insulin that can be injected in order to reduce blood sugar levels. On the other hand, for those with type 2 diabetes, the answer may lie in low cost diabetes medications taken in the form of pills which will increase blood glucose.

These pills contain different ingredients and there are five classes of such drugs including sulfonylurea, thiazolidinediones, biguanides, melitinindes as well as alpha-glucosidase inhibitors that go into the oral medications used to treat diabetes. Each of these diabetes medications work differently and can reduce blood sugar while also enhancing the production of insulin as is required under different diabetic conditions.

Part of your diabetes care should include ensuring that the drug you are taking is safe to use and it does not cause harm to your body as there have been previous cases of drugs that have caused hepatitis and disease to the liver. Due to the known problems with these diabetes medications they were subsequently withdrawn from sale.

One such supposedly miracle diabetic medication is the drug named Troglitazone whose main function and use was to reduce type 2 diabetes instances and which was also thought to provide relief from complications arising from resistance to insulin and also from diseases of the ovaries. However, this particular diabetes medication was found to have been the cause of serious liver damage and was until a few years ago, available in the form of Rezulin or Romozin. If you come across a diabetes medication such as this you will need to be very careful about using it if you do not want to affect your overall health level.

Always act only on the advice of your doctor, who should monitor your liver condition to ensure that no damage is being caused due to low cost diabetes medications. The question has been asked recently: is Glytain effective? Click here to find out if Glytain is effective in managing diabetes.

How does a diabetic know if they have poor circulation in their feet?

There is an increased incidence of peripheral arterial disease in diabetics. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is defined as a narrowing or blockage of arteries that results in poor blood flow to your legs. When you walk or exercise, your leg muscles do not get enough blood flow and you can get painful cramps.

Peripheral arterial disease is also called peripheral vascular disease or simply poor circulation. Just like clogged arteries in the heart, clogged arteries in the legs mean you are at risk for having a heart attack or stroke.

Plaque buildup in the legs does not always cause symptoms, so many people can have PAD and not know it. People who do experience symptoms, such as pain or cramping in the legs, often do not report them, believing they are a natural part of aging or due to another cause.

One in every 20 Americans over the age of 50 had PAD and it is estimated that over 8 million are undiagnosed. Early detection of PAD has been shown to save limbs and lives, so if you have any of the risk factors you should undergo PAD screening by your podiatrist yearly or more often if symptoms occur.

The exact cause of plaque buildup in the limbs is unknown in most cases. However, there are some conditions and habits that raise your chance of developing poor circulation.

Your risk increases if you:

Are over the age of 50.

Smoke or used to smoke. Those who smoke or have a history of smoking have up to four times greater risk of PAD.

Have diabetes. One in every three people over the age of 50 with diabetes is likely to have PAD.

Have high blood pressure. Also called hypertension, high blood pressure raises the risk of developing plaque in the arteries.

Have high blood cholesterol. Excess cholesterol and fat in your blood contribute to the formation of plaque in the arteries, reducing or blocking blood flow to your heart, brain, or limbs.

Have a personal history of vascular disease, heart attack, or stroke. If you have heart disease, you have a one in three chance of also having PAD.

Are African American. African Americans are more than twice as likely to have PAD as their white counterparts.

What are the symptoms of PAD?

Most patients with PAD have little or no symptoms until the disease is advanced; that’s why screening exams are so important. Those who do experience symptoms have reported these typical signs and symptoms:

Claudication: fatigue, heaviness, tiredness, cramping in the leg muscles (buttocks, thigh, or calf) that occurs during activity such as walking or climbing stairs. This pain or discomfort goes away once the activity is stopped and during rest.

Rest Pain: pain in their legs at night that often disturbs their sleep

Wounds or sores that heal very slowly or not at all

Color changes to the skin of their feet and lower legs

Cold, pale feet and legs

Decreased hair and nail growth on their feet

How is PAD Diagnosed?

Your podiatrist will start with checking the pulses in your foot and ankle, examining the skin for changes and wounds that are poorly healing. Often an ABI (ankle-brachial index) is evaluated which compares the blood pressure in your arms to your ankles. A Doppler exam may be ordered. This test uses sound waves to measure the blood flow in the veins and arteries in your arms and legs. If any of these exams are abnormal, your podiatrist may refer you to a vascular surgeon to discuss options for treatment.

How is PAD Treated?

The overall goals for treating PAD are to reduce any symptoms, improve quality of life and mobility, and prevent heart attack, stroke, and amputation. There are three main approaches to treating PAD: making lifestyle changes; taking medication; and in some cases, having a special procedure or surgery. Your physicians will determine the best treatment options for you, based on your medical history and the severity of your condition.

How Can I Prevent PAD If I am Diabetic?

The cornerstone of prevention is lifestyle changes

Exercise is very important and you should aim for 30-45 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each and every day.

Stop smoking immediately and ask your doctor for help if you find you cannot.

Keep your cholesterol and blood glucose levels down. Aim for a HgA1C of 6!

Keep your blood pressure in the normal range.

Decrease stress.

If you are overweight or obese, aim for a normal weight and again, ask your doctor for help! A diet low in saturated fats, trans fats and cholesterol is also helpful.

More than anything, talk to your doctors about a comprehensive treatment plan for your diabetes that also decreases your PAD risks.

One in every 20 Americans over the age of 50 had PAD and the incidience is higher in diabetics. Most patients have little or no symptoms until it is too late! Early detection of PAD has been shown to save limbs and lives, so if you have any of the risk factors you should undergo PAD screening by your podiatrist yearly or more often if symptoms occur.
